Glass. It had to be glass. The guy who'd hit him was apologizing profusely, trying to help him up, and only making things worse by wiping his face with a bar towel. Beating him off, Ace fumbled blindly in the general direction of the men's room, leaving a trail of red behind him. There was still bits of glass in his hair, and stuck to his brows and lashes, so he didn't dare open his eyes. The shrill screams, however, alerted him that he'd blundered into the wrong bathroom. Muttering apologies, he fell into the men's room door in his hurry to escape the ladies room.
Finding the sink wasn't too hard, but getting the glass off his face proved stupidly difficult. It didn't help that he couldn't see what he was doing. His movements were jerky, rapid, as much from urgency as pain. Haunt had broken Rule No. 1: Don't hit on the Boss. He hoped the investment had been enough.

He returned his attention to Ace, "best mad scientist ever."

Ace took a seat and concentrated on not getting blood on it.
"Hey Chemy, is it this one or the next one I get free?"

Once they were on the table, he grabbed one of the cookies for himself and took a bite. "Just the usual for the both of you? I haven't seen you in months, Haunt, I hope business is good."

"Not gonna lie I was a little gunshy after growing a set of mandibles, it really cramped my flirting." he said with a grin. "though it turns out some chicks liked the clicks."
"Business has almost been too good, I have been sleeping in my loft more often than my own bed, but I picked up a pair of employees so that should really help. How about you?" he said as he took a cookie

"Yep, the usual." He also took a cookie and bit into it carefully. Sometimes these things had aftershocks, and he really didn't feel like chipping a tooth or burning his tongue.

"I really wish you'd let me give you a permanent healing factor, Ace, I worry about you."

He made to tuck the packet into his coat pocket, realized it was still damp with blood, and shoved the pills in his hip pocket instead.
"Against the rules, I'm afraid," Ace reminded him with a rueful smile. "My old lady would kill me if we tried."
